Connected load versus peak demand: what is likely to run together?

Separate every appliance connected to a site from the equipment likely to operate at the same time.

Connected load adds the nameplate power of every listed appliance. Peak demand applies a realistic concurrency assumption to the equipment that can run together. A home can have 10 kW connected without needing 10 kW continuously.

Start with a credible operating moment

List loads that might coincide: cooling, pumps, cooking, lighting and essential equipment. Do not reduce a load merely because it is inconvenient for the result. Starting motors and compressors can draw more than their normal running power.

Use the result as a screen

The electrical load calculator shows connected load, an entered concurrency share and a nominal current screen. It does not size conductors, breakers, earthing or a generator. Those decisions need equipment data and local electrical design.

After peak power, estimate operating hours separately. Peak demand does not show monthly kWh or battery duration.
