How this grade and final exam calculator works
Multiply each assessment score by its share of the course to find points earned toward the final grade. Current grade divides those points by completed weight. For a final exam target, subtract earned points from the target and divide by the remaining exam weight.
A worked example
Assignments worth 40% scored at 80% contribute 32 points. A midterm worth 40% scored at 90% adds 36. With 68 points earned, a final worth 20% needs 85% to achieve an overall 85%.
What if the required score is above 100%?
The target cannot be reached under these weights without extra credit or a policy change. A required score at or below zero means the target is already secured in this mathematical model. School grading and rounding rules may differ.
