How this 401(k) calculator works
The model caps annual employee contributions at the amount you enter. Employer contributions match the eligible employee amount up to the specified share of salary. Contributions occur at year-end, with salary growth applied each year and full vesting assumed.
A worked example
At a 60,000 salary, contributing 6% gives 3,600. A 50% match on contributions up to 6% of salary adds 1,800, before any employee cap affects the result.
Is the employee cap a current IRS limit?
No. It is an editable planning assumption that stays constant. Check current IRS limits and your plan rules, including catch-up eligibility, compensation limits and vesting. Withdrawal taxes are not calculated.
