Calorie calculator.
Estimate daily maintenance calories from adult measurements and usual activity.
Calorie inputs
No weight-loss target is prescribed. Health conditions, training and body composition can affect energy needs.
Adult estimate, not a measured metabolic rate or a calorie prescription. Equation coefficient: female. Activity multipliers are rough assumptions and can over- or underestimate individual needs. Not for pregnancy, breastfeeding or people under 18.
How this calorie calculator works
Maintenance calories are the estimated energy needed to maintain weight at an assumed activity level. This page estimates resting energy with Mifflin–St Jeor, then multiplies by an activity factor. It does not prescribe a calorie deficit or a weight-loss schedule.
A worked example
For a 30-year-old using the female coefficient, 70 kg and 170 cm give an estimated resting energy of 1,451.5 kcal/day. A 1.2 activity factor gives about 1,742 kcal/day.
Is this a daily intake prescription?
No. The estimate can differ from actual needs and is unsuitable for pregnancy, breastfeeding or people under 18. A clinician or registered dietitian can help interpret individual circumstances.
