HOW THIS RESULT WAS BUILTDeterministic calculationEngine calculator-core-1.0.0

Method: Biomass equals fish count × average weight. Daily feed equals biomass × entered feeding percentage; dividing by meals gives feed per meal.

Inputs used: Fish count = 1,000; Average fish weight = 100 g; Daily feeding rate = 3 %; Feeds per day = 3

Assumptions: The result uses the values, units and options shown in the input snapshot.

Scope and warnings: Planning tool only. Monitor water quality and animal behaviour, validate species-specific limits and follow the direction of a qualified aquaculture professional before changing stocking, feed, aeration or water chemistry. Rounding and excluded real-world terms can make an external result differ.

UNDERSTAND THE RESULT

How this daily fish feed requirement calculator works

Biomass equals fish count × average weight. Daily feed equals biomass × entered feeding percentage; dividing by meals gives feed per meal.

A worked example

1,000 fish at 100 g each represent 100 kg biomass. At 3% feeding, daily feed is 3 kg, or 1 kg across three meals.

Should every pond use the same feeding percentage?

No. Feeding rate depends on species, age, water quality, temperature, health and actual appetite. Use farm records and observe feeding response.

Calculations run on your device. Review your results before exporting or sharing them.

Start with a recent biomass estimate

Daily feed follows fish count, average body weight and the rate you select. Splitting the result by meals makes the feeding plan auditable.

Adjust feed according to appetite, temperature, oxygen, health and uneaten feed. A theoretical daily ration must never override observations at the tank or pond.
