Time and hours calculator.
Find shift hours after breaks, or add and subtract durations.
Wall-clock hours with an unpaid break removed. No time zones, daylight-saving adjustment, overtime or wage rules are applied.
How this time and hours calculator works
Clock-time mode subtracts the starting time and unpaid break from the ending time. Mark the next-day option for an overnight shift. Duration mode treats hours and minutes as quantities and carries every 60 minutes into an hour.
A worked example
09:00 to 17:30 with a 30-minute break is 8 hours. Adding 2 hours 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes gives 4 hours 15 minutes, or 4.25 decimal hours.
Does this account for daylight saving or payroll rules?
No. These are wall-clock calculations without a location or time zone. Overtime, paid breaks and payroll rounding must be checked separately.
